Knowing this, I am going to assume that I did not have a full charge on the day I tried it. I have only done it once. I have a 27 Walmart battery and my boat's weight shouldn't be drastically different than your War Eagle. Thanks for all the replies guys!

just my 43 lb thrust isnt enough to pull that boat cranking, to get that speed out of it your probably running wide open and that is going to suck down fast no matter how good your battery is

i run 2 24 volt setups in my boat(group27 batteries)dead batteries can ruin a good day of catching.also run big motor with a trolling plate when its windy and steer with trolling motor, seems like u have better boat control with both in windy conditions

How big is your main? I can troll for 8 hours and burn 1/4 gallon. Just another option.

I have a 40 HP. This was something that I was wondering about. Is trolling around with your main motor common?

If its a 4 stroke then definetly, know folks that do it with a 2 strokes as well.

My last boat was 40 hp 2-stroke on a 17 ft skiff and pulled cranks for many years with it. I am sure using a battery and electric is nice, but no reason not to use what you have until you can get what you want.
