Spider Rigging?

I know this is a stupid question, but what exactly is Long Lining. Up here in Illinois people mostly, almost only jig fish or bobber/minnow. I got to do some spider rigging on a trip to Mississippi last year and I know about pulling cranks. But I don't know what long lining is.....?????

Long Lining is basically "trolling", generally with jigs, where your lines are running well back of the boat.
