I kinda thought that may be the method being used, but wasn't 100% sure. I'm just wondering if the Bonehead braid might be a bit heavier than PowerPro, so that it isn't so easy to rise through the tip eye when raising/lowering the rod tip (jigging motion). Just guessing about that, though ... because it seems like one would have to be using a pretty light weight jig and/or bouncing the tip a good bit, to push line back through the tip eye & making a loop around the rod tip.

I don't vertical jig boat docks (posts) ... I "Vertical Cast" them (& shoot them) ... so tip wrap hasn't been a problem for me, even when using PP braid.

I've vertical fished from 8-22' with both and can tell no difference, both twist. I think it's just the nature of the beast.

I bought a spool of bonehead and a spool of PP Super Slick 8 to compare (high viz yellow). I have two Sam Heaton 12' rods used for two poling, one spooled with each. Also I have two G Loomis casting rods, one spooled with each. One rod is 6' 6" and the other is 6' 9", the reels are identical. The first thing I noticed is the super slick is a tighter weave and is smoother. I wanted to fish with both so I have a fair comparison. After several trips I can say with out a doubt the PP casts farther/easier than the bonehead, the color stays on the PP better than the bonehead and the PP comes out of the rod easier on the 12' rods. I can't tell any difference in the strength and how well the knots hold in either. Not trying to beat on Josh because he is a great guy to deal with buy if anyone has any doubts come by and check out the two lines your self, they are still on the rods.

That’s the reason I don’t like other braids. They are ‘too’ slick.  Kinda like nylon. (?)
They seem to require complicated knots and they cut into my fingers. I mainly vertical jig (98%) and pitch sometimes but my finger is always on the line feeling the bites or the brush/timber. Of all the braids I ever tried they only lasted a week or so and I gave them to someone else to try. When Josh first asked me to try it, I said ‘no thank you, I hate braid’. Lol He said his line was different so I’m always open to try new stuff for crappie fishing. Once I tied a simple loop knot and started fishing, I thought he might have something here. It still took me months to get confidence and really start using it. Easy overhand loop knots have held every fish… and a few brush piles.

In my simple mind, it’s like the difference for an anchor rope between that yellow nylon rope and a soft cotton rope. I hate that prickly, slick yellow nylon rope, especially pulling up an anchor. Sure, the nylon holds color better because it is made into the nylon like the slick braid. The softer ‘cotton’ braid will fade, so I cut off ten feet or so every once in a while. I’m probably using all the wrong terms like cotton and nylon, ‘cause I don’t really know what they’re made of. If that's the trade-off to have this line, I'm all for it. It's each person's personal preference and for the style of fishing they do.

I don’t ever cast for crappie, so I couldn’t tell you about casting. I suppose slick braid would cast farther, I don’t know. I do shoot docks, but haven’t tried with braid yet since there are no docks on my home lake. I used 6lb mono the last time I shot docks. I pitch out 1/16th ounce jigs about 20 feet or so sometimes and bounce it back. Does that count as 'casting'? Works fine for that.

We caught these last Saturday using simple overhand loop knots and swung ‘em all in the boat, no net.
Upper right is 2 pounds 8 ounces.
Some of those were bright black with spawning colors. Beautiful!
All were caught with 1/8th ounce jigs vertical jigging and some with 1/16th ounce jigs pitching.

I'm not sure about that. Some of his previous posts said he was going to try and get some. Give him a call. His number is on the website. It's his personal cell... 'cause he's all there is! It's nice to be able to talk to the owner and actual creator of the line and ask him questions.
