I find they move around a lot ths time of year, I've caught them in 6 to 16 feet in past week. Sometimes around shad and sometimes scattered. In my experience they will become more concentrated close to thir spawning areas about 3 months before the spawn in deep water close by. Wrm days will draw them in shallow for awhile. But if you find shad at the mouth of spawning areas this time of year you should find crappie.
