Lots of guys will add two hooks above the weight but I've found out that if theyre biting one hook does as good as two, and costs you WAY LESS in minners.
Im new to spider rigging and so far Ive only used the pre rigged Capps/Coleman set up but Im definitely going to try it with the weight on the bottom after reading this.

Any more pictures of rigs with weights on the bottom? I'm just getting started and it seems most people around here that I have talked too which isn't many but the weight above the bottom hook/jig.

I depends on my desire that day. If I want my usual 3-4 pounders I put a hook on the bottom. If my arm is tired of all those fat ones and I want the 2 pounders I use a sinker on the bottom.

OK, I use a bottom hook because they wont tangle as bad.
I think the mistake a lot of us make is thinking the state-appointed shrink is our friend.

I would rather have a sinker on the bottom, that way you dont have a hook hanging up on things all the time when fishing the bottom.I would also use a lighter line for that sinker so you can break it off and only loose the sinker and not the whole rig.Myself,I don't have the time to tie my own rigs so I order mine from grizzlyjig.com under grizzly rigs. They are only around 1.20 each. You can probably find them at other places too.If so I would love to hear where.

By the way, those grizzly rigs have the sinker above the bottom hook.

I run both....go to Hagens for snell holder .$15 each (CC style). I also use the round foam floats for kids at Walmart. Hagens has weights. Example 1oz per 100 is $22.50. You cannot go wrong with Hagens for all supplies.
