I have mine on the sides. 3 on each side 16', 12' and 8'. It's easier for me to man the rods, watch FF, and control tm. Plus it keeps the back clear for landing fish.

This, only difference is I run as many as ten and only 2 foot of seperation. As far as turns, I turn hard 45 degrees and straight up, once the lines get back where they should be I turn hard 45 again.
