I think you guys may have misunderstood me a little. I was wanting a raised floor more or less at the tip of my boat for vertical fishing. I didn't want it raised but about 6-8 inches and just remove the front bench. Basically something like locator's center seat. As far as the dock shooting goes I also like to sit on the bench seat and shoot. I wouldn't think sitting on a actual casting deck pedestal would be much good for shooting docks maybe pitching but not shooting. I hope this clears up everything I don't want yall to think I would be dumb enough to sit on a high pedestal on the front of a 14 footer.
I also love locator's boat that looks like a crappie machine!
Thanks for all the help guys!

I too have a 14' Alumacraft, although mine is an older model, circa 1967. This past winter I installed a floor, livewell, couple of seats, battery storage, bow storage, lights, anchors, yada, yada, yada.

Link to my project, first few pages are about rebuilding my trailer, after that I get into the boat work. I may have gone overboard a little bit, however it works very well.

I placed all the original floatation foam in the new version. the bow has all the foam from the front bench, plus one can of expanding foam. I made a floatation box to hold the middle and rear bench seat floatation foam. I figured I added about 100-150 pounds of materials. The boat works great for two people.

I've done several over the years and I won't start with the details cuz we fish different. If you spend a little time getting your needs together on paper, then try to make a rough drawing as to how they might fit, you'll be ahead of the game. I have 2 peices of 1/8" alum boiler plate if you need deck material, you can have em for what I got in em. But think it out. Sit in the boat with no one around and imagine what you're gonna need and how it's gonna work when it's all done. If you're like me there's 2 things you don't have; extra time and extra money. Have fun and good luck with the remodel.

I sat in my boat many times while it was in teh garage undergoing the remodel. I got a few laughs from my wife and kids when they saw me just sitting in it concentrating. Sometimes I was sitting on a bucket, or my tool box, or one of teh pedistal seats. For some reason I looked funny sitting in the boat in the garage with my fishing pole in hand. :D

Thanks for the kudos. I spent a ton of time thinking about it. Real estate is at a premium on a small boat, I wanted to utilize every square inch and yet keep the plan simple.

They have just never caught one of the most elusive of all fish. The lawn Crappie. A hybrid between a white and a black bass, with one grandparent being a Kentucky Blue and the other grand parent being a winter rye grass, this fish is seldom seen.
