Fished Louie yesterday from early until late. Started off slow and small. Found fish in some old spots, but they weren’t interested in biting, and the few I caught were small. They weren’t interested in my old standby red and chartreuse tube. Tried a few jigs I had tied and caught a few on a silver chenille with grey marabou with a couple strands of red and silver tinsel in the tail. I got out a 1/16 ounce Big Bite jig with a pearl and silver glitter tube, and the fish seemed to like it better. I had to put the jig in their face and hold it still, but they would bite.
Changed tactics a bit and started fishing big tree tops that had fallen in the water. That made a big difference! I think there was a crappie tournament on Louie Saturday, so that might explain why the usual places didn’t produce.
Ended up keeping 15 mostly small fish with a few good ones also. Only got rained on once! Learned a lot of new places, and have a new favorite jig. Caught some on jigs that I tied!
Nice day!
