I use a 1/2 oz most of the time because I want the fish to feel as little resistance as possible. Faster and deeper pushing I go to 3/4 or 1 oz. but lots of times in shallow water fishing extremely slow I drop back to 1/4 oz especially fishing bare hooks and minnows. Let’s them be a little more active. About 90% of the time I fish a pony head with plastic tipped with a minnow. My advice is fish as light a weight as possible based on your fishing conditions. That’s why I keep bunches of Riggs tied up with different weights on.
