Finally got a chance to go last Wednesday to my favorite spots. Shell fields in Bayou Sorrel. Water is low with lots of large carp in the front but the back around Berry Lake was stained a little green and fish were biting for a change. Just when we got them figured out, the lightning ran us back to the landing. Not good in an aluminum boat!
I told a friend about it this weekend and he went today and there's a MASSIVE fish kill out there with a lot of oil field activity. Water has turned to chocolate milk and bank to bank dead fish. He saw some 4-5 lb bass, lots of sacs and catfish up to about 10 lbs! When he went out this morning there was about 60 crew boats at the dock but on the way back, there were only 6 left. They've got the water some stirred up! When the water's high you don't see any of them out there.
