    Default 5.12.18 lake bistineau

Had a tough day on Bistineau Saturday. Could see alot of fish on my graph 4 to 10ft, but could not get on a good bite. Caught just a few in 7 hrs, I did manage a nice channel cat though. He fought good and hard.
Talked to a guy at the ramp who fished further south and had a decent morning catch.
I usually fish the port area and go North.

Went to Dorcheat the following day for about an hour and lost the biggest crappie i would had ever caught. My net game wasn't strong that day. Went again the next day and managed a few in a hours time.

This was the only pic I took that weekend. Do you think this fish hasn't spawned or because of all the crazy water conditions she just didn't spawn and will absorb her eggs?Name: 20180515_163840.jpg

First of all, congratulations on your catches. Secondly, in my humble and non-professional opinion, looking at the size of the egg sack, I would say that she has probably already spawned most of her eggs. She might have finished on the next full moon if you had not caught her. Maybe somebody smarter than me will chime in on this. Anyway, thanks for posting.

Cool thanks for the info. I'm still learning about the crappie biology lol. At least she got a some eggs out before she hit the grease.
Generally how long do they spawn? I figured they would be done with the water at 84 degrees.

It might be that she had a hard time finding a male on a nest
