    Question First post-Saline/Larto

Howdy! I知 a relative novice to the crappie game but found this page and was impressed with the comraderie. I知 gonna make a trip to Saline Friday, hoping the couple of days of warm weather will have them up shallow looking for some love. I知 concerned with what the water is going to be like after all this rain. In you guys experience, does high, muddy water stop them from starting the spawn? Or do they just seek the right depth even though it might normally be dry?

Welcome to the forum! I think the temperature has more to do with the spawning than the high or muddy water does. Good luck and let us know how you do.

Welcome to the Forum....I agree with Shadow on the temperature.....I think muddy water affects fishermen more than it does the fish.....don't know about that "normally dry" stuff....somehow, the fish figure it out.....I think they will spawn in water that is between 12" and 7 feet.....course, I am no expert.....

That’s my main lake. I agree with the others on temperature. I catch them year after year in the same places whether the water is up or down as long as the temps are right. It started a slow fall over night, which in my opinion is the best time to fish there. I’m heading up to the camp on friday to attempt my first fishing trip of the year. 90% rain chances aren’t looking good for me though on Saturday. Good luck and welcome aboard. It’s a great group.

Yeah. I would be going tomorrow but for an awards program for my daughter at school. Falling water and two days in the 70s makes me think Friday before the rain might be really good. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Yeah let me know. It looks like I’ll have a nice window Saturday morning and then free and clear on Sunday. Hopefully I’ll have some pictures myself.
