Went back to the ponds yesterday and found 9 or 10 against the bank. Fishing 18" and then 12" with cork and hair jig. Sometimes they would just try to move the bait away and you could drop back down and they would take it. Darker fish color showing up too. Palmetto ponds spawn earlier than other places I fish so I just see it as a sign of the times.
The water was up after some big local rains. Abbeville caught 7". I thought with the rise and high pressure it would be another scratch trip. Just goes to show how trying something you don't think will work can pay off. The fish weren't hungry it seemed as action seemed like they were in protective mode.
Thanks for the report.
