Thread: NW Louisiana, Cypress?

I noticed a bunch of dead cattails. Saw some homeowners burning them off. I didn't know they sprayed them. Might explain why the fishings been goofy. Many years ago, I lived in a neighborhood with a hydrilla problem. It had taken over. We all met many times with specialists to weigh the options of spraying to kill it. After months of study, they gave us a poison to spray that "wouldn't affect the fish". After spraying the entire bayou, we didn't notice any fish kill, but for several years, you couldn't hardly catch any. We assumed the poison had run most of them off. It may not have anything to do with Cypress, but it sure has been a noticeably tougher year to catch them compared to last year.

I was waiting early one morning to get a sticker at Cypress and talked to one of the lake ranger.
He told me exactly how much salt to 50 gallons they sprayed one nite, with almost instant results and
no danger to the water. Salt water kills salvina and its cheap.
