Old timer here just has to feel the bite so spider rigs don't temp me. Every where we went they were fishing multiple rigs and some were catching nice fish. We fished tree structure and boat docks in about 10 fow. First day biggest fish was 2.3. We released everything we caught, I think ten or so. Females are busting with eggs and some in shallow water are spawning. Next two days we kept a nice mess and let some live to fight another day. Minnow tipped jigs worked best. This was our first trip there and we have a lot to learn however we also got lucky as many boats had none. Conditions were post front, lows in the upper 30's and more north wind than you could ever want, kicking up a two to three foot chop in the lake. People there are very friendly and you should plan to go hike Poverty Point while you are there. The lake is beautiful and we plan to return again. Pictured is my daughter freezing but not complaining one bit and our bring home catch.

Nice fish- good pictures and an enjoyable read. Thanks.
Man that is awesome! Thanks for the report and pictures. My daughter still goes with me and she turns 20 tomorrow, she can fish all day with me and not catch one and not complain a bit. Enjoy those moments while you can.

So true Shadow, we camped, fished, and hiked with our girls growing up and I still wished we'd done more. She's over 30 now and I don't get to fish with her or her older sister much any more but we all did at PP last week along with my grandson and we had a great time. Everyone caught some nice size fish as well so that's a bonus! BTW, we ate at the restaurant at Black Bear golf course one evening and the food and service are excellent, under new management.
What?!! No way!! I would have guessed she was in her EARLY teens! I guess her and my daughter share that too. Mine turned 20 today and could pass for 15! As a matter of fact, my soon to be niece just turned 15 Sunday and my daughter and her could easily pass for the same age.
