Default Tight line at Poverty Point

Old timer here just has to feel the bite so spider rigs don't temp me. Every where we went they were fishing multiple rigs and some were catching nice fish. We fished tree structure and boat docks in about 10 fow. First day biggest fish was 2.3. We released everything we caught, I think ten or so. Females are busting with eggs and some in shallow water are spawning. Next two days we kept a nice mess and let some live to fight another day. Minnow tipped jigs worked best. This was our first trip there and we have a lot to learn however we also got lucky as many boats had none. Conditions were post front, lows in the upper 30's and more north wind than you could ever want, kicking up a two to three foot chop in the lake. People there are very friendly and you should plan to go hike Poverty Point while you are there. The lake is beautiful and we plan to return again. Pictured is my daughter freezing but not complaining one bit and our bring home catch.
