I Had to Drag him out this Morning .... I had the Boat hooked up - all the Tackle loaded, Ice chest full of Ice, Cold worms on Ice Sandwiches --- made a pot of Coffee and took over two cups . Him and his Dog were still snoring at 7:30 -- we got to the lake at 8 We Tied to the same tree as Yesterday and the bite was slower, we could reach some different water this time a few feet from before. Today 11 Cats were put in our Portable live well. Johnny put the worm at the base of the Large tree, it sat there about 5 minutes as he held the Pole, Twitched it a time or two and said it was hung . as he was thinking about pulling the hook or break off , the hang shook its head and took off --- the drag was set too tight and luckey the pole did not break. He had to give me the Pole as it did not come up and turning was not easy.... We got the poles pulled up tight to the boat to get playing room. I gave the pole back to Bro and he reset the drag. Getting a fish up 20 feet taking over five minutes --- that Duck Commander Pole won the battle when I put him in the net The Flat Head was as long as my arm . I Caught some keepers then a channel Cat about 14 inches... When I got him in I thought an Ell had turned it loose ---- Wrong . A Flat Head scared it in Front of the Dorsal and two rough spots half way down the tail--- it had managed to excape to find my hook. We Had a boat stop and give us his Shiners. He had 6 Cats the size we released. No Crappie hit the shiners today. The Bite really slowed , then another Cat slammed my pole and ran us all over the boat like the flat Head, over five minutes. At the net it spit out my hook. We fished two more hours Past noon and had More excitement than fish . Johnny had a Submarine break a line -- then I had another Submarine Break my line .. He had two poles in so I said lets go clean these and take a nap![]()
Those flatheads are some good eating! I like them better than blues or channels. Sounds like a lot of fun for you guys! Glad no poles were injured in the making of that trip.![]()
Fish on Line LIKED above post
great story.......
Loved the epic saga of your fishing trip for cats. Sounds like an exciting time. Congratulations on the catch. Some fine eating.
The Lord is good. His mercy and love endures forever.
Johnnys boat with the motor is about 20 feet and the poles we use are 11 feet. that is an oval between 30 and 40 feet of playing room to run all over. Any time a big fish sees the Galactia it will dive for the depths
