    Default Hoop/wire net

Hey all was reading the Louisiana wild life website trying to figure out if I can use a hoop net in northwest LA. The guideline is a little confusing for me. So I was wondering if anyone can dumb it down for me? I'm in bossier city area btw.

You can buy a lincense and fish up to 5! Catfish traps are the same!

I had one once before someone walked off with it, and had a little luck a few times. My dad used them quite a bit when I was a kid to keep food on the table. He was a barber, so we didn't grow up rich, but never starved. He said cottonseed cake was a good bait for them, but I've not seen it around here in a long time. Only thing I could find (when I was looking) was soybean cake, and they said it doesn't work as well. Be sure to weight it down with something, because if you attract enough turtles and they all drown, they can float the entire net up. I had that happen once....very nasty, but underneath them, I had some nice cats in the net.

I would love to give it a shot in just very Leary because of the fact someone walking away with it and they aren't cheap.

There's two ways I set mine...
    1) lean over the boat and tie off way under the water
    2) I use a good anchor and a homemade grappling hook to drag the bottom to snag the line
