Got up this morning about 4:45 and headed to Black Lake at Campti. Since it was cloudy, I arrived way before daylight, but that was okay and actually good. I still had my running lights turned on when I caught my first 2 fish. Caught 3 more within 35-40 minutes. Then, for me, they just shut off. Not another bite until 12:15. Some people (my wife) would say that I was being stubborn for staying that long without a bite. I call it optimism. Anyway, caught 4 more fish between 12:15 and 12:30. I left at 1:30.

I caught 9 crappie and kept 8 of them. 2 of them were scrappers, but I like scrappers every once in a while. I also caught 5 or 6 bream. Turned all of them back into the lake. All of my fish except one were caught on live trees in 10 FOW fishing about 5-6 feet deep. Not a single fish off of dead wood. I caught my throwback crappie at the bridge. All fish caught on black/chartreuse hand tied (by me) jig. I fished with 2 poles most of the day. Had the gray ghost tied to the other pole. Not a single crappie on the gray ghost, just a couple bream.

I know J_Row would have loaded the boat today with the gray ghost, but I couldn't get the crappie to hit any color but black/chartreuse. Anyway, we are having crappie and taters for supper.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for a wonderful day in Your creation and for supper.
