Default My Disney World AKA The Atchafalaya Swamp

Launch out of the By You Pigeon Landing mid morning. Nice and cool ride down the buy U. Plenty of birds feeding in the shallows.

Passed up the Big Pigeon intersection went right by Cross bayou too. Water looks just right. Stoped at the old radio tower area and wouldn't you know 4 boats in my canal and two on my spot.:big grin

Moved on down Little Pigeon and hit my spots towards the back. Pick up a few sacs, Medium size but thick across the shoulders.

Next to the Lake. Grand Lake that is. Bunch of boats running and gunning. Picked up a few more sacs on a willow tree. It's always good for a few. found some stripers, played with them must of caught a couple of dozen before some idiots ran their boat right threw em.

Up big Pigeon and passed half a dozen boats. Just didn't want to join the crowds. Made my way down the reed canal and stop at my spot and it was game on. Properly kept a cope of dozen there and threw back as many.

Time to check some other areas. Threw the zig zag and up by you long. Went to my spot up postillion. Found them 3' under a cork. On a run out. Tube jig, black, green, chart-use. 1/16 minnow head.#4 sickle hook.

That sure is a long one you got there. Nice mess in the box and it sounds like you had a great boat ride also. Thanks for the report and pictures. Did you see any dead water while riding.

I caught the long one twice. Gan't remember catching one before. Wouldn't leave my jig alone.

It looks like it might be time to pay you back for that tour you gave me a couple of months ago. I don't usually do well in Pigeon but I'm game if you are. I've got plenty vacation time left so we need to go during the week to avoid most of that traffic. Just let me know your thoughts.

PS- Maybe we can get JR to join us and show us that willow tree! LOL

I'll take it JR. I can't seem to put it all together in Pigeon for some reason. It seems all I ever do is ride and hunt 'em. Worse than a bass fisherman!
The guy I work with and me are going Sunday afternoon to check out the Bayou Corne area. Haven't been in many moons. I gotta know. Gonna come in from Pierre Part Bay and work backwards and also hit Bay Alcede if time permits. I'll post Sunday night what we find.

JR, your report and pictures sure do make me want to give the basin a try. Just wish it wasn't so far away.
    Nice job!
