Thread: Is D Arbonne a good bream lake

I've never really bream fished it but in general i don't think it's known for big bream. I did however catch a few good ones trolling double minnow rig about a month ago.

A lake that size theres bound to be big ones in it...finding em is a different story

We catch good numbers out there. Some big bull bream and a few chinqs, but not the giants like you catch at Caney or some other places.

We have a cabin rented at the state park for Labor Day weekend. I've never fished the lake. We are thinking about renting a bateau at the state park instead of hauling the boat all the way from Baton Rouge. Think we'd do any good close to the boat docks at the state park?

I have fished the lake about 8 years, Red ears are ok but bull bream is a different story. they are small and stunted. they are not fat at all. when cleaned I never found anything but small amounts of black mud

I only fish there at the gathering in Nov, and for crappie, but there's plenty of cover around the park launch...stumps and such. Also, the channel passes fairly close to the launch, so you could paddle out to deep water (25' or so) if you wanted to. If you've got a trolling motor you can mount on the boat you rent, it'd be easier for you. I've seen good catches of catfish too on trotlines on that lake. With the fish cleaning station right at the launch, and a nice grinder, I'm betting there are plenty of cats in the area....
