WOW! That is incredible. I, personally, have never seen any water over 40-42 feet deep on Caney on my electronics. I will have to come and look some more. Not sure where Smith Branch is. Glad you caught a few.

Was headed to dam friday afternoon to try 40 ft water. Saw several boats at Smith Branch. Went and joined them. We were fishing 60 ft deep and catching crappie. No size to them. Never caught freshwater fish that deep..Caught about 20 total friday and saturday.

The Lord is good. His mercy and love endures forever.
Pastor, Smith is the cut to the right just above the dam. There are 3 55-72ft holes there at the mouth where they dug the dirt for the levie. One is on the left just off the point and the other two are on the right with one right even with the first little cut with all the camps in it. The other is just a little further in at the next small point.

This is general area. Marina has maps that show them. Like Mo'NBack said 3 deep borrow pits.
Mo'nBack LIKED above post
wow...thats deep......
Not sure I'd want to reel up that many fish from 60 feet unless I had a good cranking ratio on the reel.Sounds like fun times though!
I wonder if throw backs can survive that.
Not unless you deflate the bladder
