Hand control Minnkota. I ran a 32 for a long time on a 16 Alumacraft bass, then went to a 36. Ran only one group 31 and bass fished all day with either one in strong winds and not run out of power. Your newer ones even in the 5 speed are much more efficient. For your boat unless you fish strong current I would stay with a lower thrust motor. If your single poling or casting low speed will ease you around without overrunning your spots. Low speed on some of the higher thrust motors is sometimes to high. I would try to borrow a couple of different ones to try if you can before buying. Just my opinion but I would not own another MG.
