Went to Cypress Black Bayou Saturday morning out of the Recreation area. Fished in about 16-18 FOW and the temps were about 53-55. Armed with some new crappie poles had several misses and a small one that got to see another day. Was able to keep two of them but they were biting pretty regularly until about 930 when I went back to the launch to pick up the wife and son. Biggest one measured in at 12." Only kept the two but have to start somewhere...stocking up for Lent I guess lol. Several boats were out there too and it was a great day to be on the water. Shout out to drjayhow. I looked up his video that he posted in the First Time Spider Rigging thread and tried that technique out with shiners. That is pretty much how we fished for yellow perch on Lake Michigan since we go for those guys in about 60 FOW. Works like a charm.
Tried Bisteneau Sunday morning but got out to the launch and since I had my son with me I knew he would not last long in the cold wind so we headed back to the house and will try again another day.
