I fish a b&m 11' and 12' and love them. I also have the 11' cheap ones from academy and they are a little heavy compared to the b&m.
Go pick up a few different rods and which ever one you think you can hold all day long is the one I would get.

Order from Grizzly Jigs. Online, quick(usually 3 days tops) and great people to deal with. Ask for Lance if you call.Grizzly Jig Company I use the Jimmy Houston and the BnM's. JH are lighter.

    Default Poles

I suggest the b&m sam heaton super sensitive. I used mostly the 11 foot. And the 10 sometimes. Also have a couple 12 foot ones that have there place but the 11 is the best all around. From time to time I break out the 5 9 foot Mitchell fly rods. Used them for years going back to early 80's growing up for about 25 years. Long before you could purchase the variety of great poles they have now a fly rod was the best option to rig for jigging. Funny how things change. Back then people looked at us strange using jigging poles but now majority of folks do

Forget our academy in Houma. They discontinue anything nice used to carry the b&m sam heaton but not for a few years
In fact I like only cork handle poles and don't think they have a one period. Not that it matters as I order from bass pro or direct. But I have7-8 of them so I probably don't need any more( for now anyway)

Front to Back Boat Service behind Cortana Mall and Superior Tackle on Siegan Lane sell em. Make sure you get the graphite pole. I'd call em first.

I've used the Slater Graphite pole for a long time and like em too.
