Tough morning. Hot!!! Only managed 2 bass in BLC. Shad spawning there and in the south flats. Fish were def busting them, but never really wanted anything I offered.

I assume if they were feeding on the shad, you used shiners?

Used shiners at first. Then used jigs because I thought I needed something to stand out. Then small cranks and jerk baits.....

I was fishing the other day off my neighbors dock and caught a shad about 8" long on a fly. Never caught a shad before on artificial bait.

We had two jump in a pirogue with us one night. Had a lantern between us so neither of us could see too well. Biggest ones I'd ever seen. Both times, we almost let 'em have the boat!

The sacs I cleaned a couple weeks back was full of small shad . Started using lil white road runners and doing pretty good on them here lately .
