    Default Catching not fishing.

Today I had a trip of a life time. To set up how this trip came about first need to set how it came about. Last month at a wedding I ran into a friend I haven't seen in thirty years. We talked and discovered we both were crappie exclusive fishermen. I took him on the 44 trip on the Houston River. His pay back was to fish his families 80 acre lake. When I arrived he asked how many crappie do you want to clean. I said 30 would be good. He then asks how many catfish. I laughed and said 15 should do. Well that's what went in the ice chest. Look guys when we started fishing on the brush piles it was a fish every cast. We slot fished nothing under 10 inches unless gut hooked and nothing over 13 inches went in the ice chest. After the first couple of crappie over 14 inches were caught I put the camera away and put a hurting on my reel.....lol. I bet we boated over a hundred each in 3 hours. Even threw back a bunch of bass. To be continued.

More breeding stock thrown back. They manage this pond well. They only keep what they want to eat. He told me that a few 20 to 40lbs catfish, 9lbs bass, and 3lbs crappies have been caught and released. Hey its a great feeling to catch and release a 14 to 16 inch fish. We have another trip planned in about 4 weeks. I can't wait.
