You're right swampman, a beautiful lake Toledo Bend is. I love it and make 5 - 6 trips a year up there for a few days each. Nice post.

FISH ON
Wow! I went for the first time last summer, but just bass fished. Wouldn't know where to start trying to crappie fish out there as big as it is.
Heading over this weekend. I have no tops, so I am counting on the grass bite down south.
Awsome catch! Thanks for the pictures and report!

Me and a friend went this weekend and did not nearly do that well. We tried fishing some stump and underwater brush, but only managed about 20 the whole weekend, and they were smaaaaaalll. We managed one nice one the last morning. If you are not familiar with the lake, the guide is how to go. I've been 3 times with guides and limited out each time. They are worth the money. Now, when you are more familiar with the lake, you can go out and do well. But the guide is the way to go. Nice post. I plan on going back with a guide next month.![]()

You are right. Brush piles will hold fish pretty much year round. I am building some right now to set out in a local lake. I've never done this before, but I've read and seen a lot on you tube on the subject. I expected to see some people spider rigging , but did not see a one.
