    Default Yucatan

While I did not go fishing I did talk to Mr. James at the landing. He told me a man caught around 20 Saturday and around 25 on Sunday. They have been catching a few around the floating piers. The river is about to rise again so it should slow down again. Maybe, just maybe we will be able to catch a few fish this year.

Charles I've been watching the river in hopes of pulling the camper in, it's still rising and I think it will for a few more days. Still to close to chance leaving my camper maybe by next weekend. 20watt it has to be better than last year. Last year was the worst I can ever remember.

Hoping that we can finally make a trip over there and see what it is like. Heard it is a pretty place to see and also good fishing if the conditions are right. Jim

Never pulled my camper out this year. Took a chance, so far so good. When the fishing is on there is know better place to catch fish, but when it's off it can't get no worse. Last year I didn't catch anything. The year before that I caught limits about every time I went. Time will tell, once the river starts dropping again it won't take long to find out.

Man I would never have left my camper unless it was raised. I'm so ready to give it a try. Sure hope the fishing is better this year.

What stage on the Vicksburg gauge does the river need to be for the fishing to be good at Yucatan?

You can catch them at any level if its falling. It gets good around mid twenties. Palmyra around 17 feet

Yea I like it mid twenties to around 19 with a slow fall, the only problem is a slow fall is rare this time of year, usually when it starts it can fall our pretty darn fast. But when they are biting anyone can catch em, when you have to hunt em it helps to know the lake a little. I can usually find a few at any water level. It may not be a box full but I usually manage a few. It's gonna be tough fishing though I'm afraid, the spawn is long gone and the temps are fixing to get up near the 100 degree mark. Summer time crappie fishing can be tough.

Thanks guys.. I have fished Palmyra several times and knew 17 was a good number, but never fished Yucatan. Plan on giving it a shot this summer.
