Default Hey G, Tracker123 and Prefers Shiners

I been bass fishing a lot at TB. Been Communicating a lot with Darkmatter38. He has been catching well. He even caught a tagged one today and we are trying to figure out why it's tagged. I think it's for a little contest put on by local merchants and can be redeemed for prizes. I caught one late last year after the contest ended. Been also spending time with family up there. My grand daughter(11) caught 2 bass over 3 lbs this week. I lucked up and caught the biggest one. 3lb 10 oz. I posted about it having weird speckles, but it did not show in the picture. We had a nice fish fry Friday. Back home now. I got some yellow grits for Bruce. Will figure out how to get them to him this week. Also, will shop the boat tomorrow for the hundred hour maint. on the motor. Haven't seen ceegee much. My wife saw them take the boat out a couple weeks ago. Maybe he will pipe in. Danny

I'm still here. Been busy with a hurricane preparedness project. Converted my portable generator to natural gas ( no more hunting for fuel) and built a weatherproof storage for it when it's running. Gail and I did go fishing the other day at Henderson and caught 2 sacs and a bass. Sounds like you had a very successful trip at the Bend.Congrats!

    Hey "D"
Headed up to TB Thursday through Sunday with my family and Grandkids and staying at San Miguel. We will be fishing WP/BASS/CATFISH,etc any hints on the bass as far as lures, depth, color would be appreciated. My Grandson Jordan caught his first bass there and never forgot it. He is having eye surgery the day we leave so prayers needed please. I have a step daughter going that loves fishing and never been to TB, also her bro n law going and he has never been on TB.
I would love for this to be a memorable trip for them. I have fished TB since it opened, but only get up there once or twice per year so thanks in advance for any help you can give!!! Both the first timers to TB live for bass fishing so wish them well. ~~<*{{{{<< FSH4FUN

FISH4FUN, catching on white flukes real shallow, fish points of coves before you move into coves. Also catching on white spinner baits and some on plastic worms/baby brush hogs. Watermelon red flake. People catching WP were fishing shallow to 6 ft using jigs under corks and throwing road runners. Black/chart and blue/chart. Nothing ganged up. Got to work for them. Also try at the boat dock at the landing for WP. Had a lot of people in that area this weekend. Don't forget to try shiners also. Good luck, best wishes and prayers sent.

You knuckle head Danny! Where's the pictures? You could post pictures of the family, instead of you with your catfish and bass. Let alone of you saving the young girls on Toledo Bend when it got rough I did like those though.

FSH4FUN, try in and around the boat stalls at san miguel for crappie. They are moving in and out of them. I caught a bunch of real nice ones yesterday afternoon in the stalls. They seem to be the most consistent around the points leading into coves in 15 to 17 foot of water that have deep grass. They are almost on the bottom in the grass. I also caught alot of nice bass around the banks by the boat launch area and in the 15 to 17 foot deep grass leading into coves.

Danny, I found out that the contest starts May 1st. The tag number shows what prize you win. The one I caught would have been 20 dollars but some are 30,000 dollars. Im going to have to register for it, I would be sick if I caught a 30,000 dollar fish and could not cash in.

So you got a early start. What did you do with the fish and where do we register?

I had to keep the fish because it swallowed the hook and I killed it trying to get it out. I just kept the tag. You register at https://register.crappierodeo.com , or at toledo town. Its 10 dollars and starts May 1st to August 1st. There are a bunch of fish tagged with different prizes.

This is what it looked like. Its actually hard to see and I did not even notice it until after I got the hook out. The fish was small and I might have thrown it back without noticing if it would not have swallowed the hook.
