I thought I was told that the new structure was the answer and the gates would not have to be opened and closed. Five inches of rain here in WM and still raining.

When the Gates are opened EVERYONE on the Lake will know.. I was at A Lake Comm. Meeting last year when the Contractor made a report. They had just finished the first test of the gate that leaked and areas the seals noted to be adjusted.. The alarm that is to sound for 15 minutes before opening listed in the Specs was discussed. The hearing range of that alarm was three Miles.. The Army Corps Of Enginers had Made the Recomendation to change to a new LOUDER ALARM HORN with a hearing range of 13 MILES.. They accepted the change and aproved the funds needed ---- If they open those Gates everyone on the Lake will know it ---

Lake Darbonne Life says they were supposed to open them last night. I don't see any change in the graph however so maybe it hasn't happened yet.

Mr Paul Thanks for the Graph.... As of Noon today the lake has dropped 3/8 of an inch, There must be lots of current in locations like Jakes and Highway 2 Bridge

I have a camp near the Hwy 2 bridge and was also anxious to see the results of opening the new "tainter gate". The results have really impressed me ! In the past years I have never seen the rise slow down, level off, then begin to decline as it did with the new gate. There was some "yo-yoing" up & down, but in general, it worked. I believe the lake level would have exceeded a 4 foot rise if not for the new gate, but instead it barely reached a 3 foot rise. When opened to the fullest extent, the amount of additional water leaving the lake now is comparable to "one foot high" across the entire spillway which I believe is roughly 700 feet long. Lot of water discharge !!!!!
