    Default Horrible RV experience

I have had the worst experience and no where to vent so here it goes.
We bought a nice RV from Primeaux in Opelousas and rented a spot for the year at Larto. I was so excited about being able to just pile in the car and go without a big production, home away from home doing what I love. We pulled it up and set up in early January. Toilet leaked, faucet leaked, fridge door broke off on the trip, hot water in toilet, pilot wouldn't light. Well crap happens so we brought it back home and called Primeaux for warranty work. Was told 4 weeks before they can get it in, tried everything to get it in sooner including pleading with the owner and no luck. I asked them to at least order the parts ahead so we wouldn't have to wait and they agreed.
Forward to feb 9. We bring it in, no parts to be found. They got the parts in a few days, but they didn't get it in until today. They got it in, said the part wasn't right and maybe late next week.

So the truck was packed to finally enjoy my fishing spot, but after three months, no RV I am making payments on, not using a fishing spot I am paying for, and no way to change a thing. We have rented a cabin three times but that was not the experience I had in mind.

When you mess with my fishing I am not a happy camper, pardon the pun.

We spent several years as full time RVers. We bought our Winnebago when it was a year old from a dealer. We were fortunate in that we never had a problem with it but your story is very common to folks who bought a new RV. It did not seem to matter if was an $50K small class c or a 43 ft $750K diesel pusher. Many folks spent the first year going back and forth to the dealer with issues just like yours.
I spoke with the owner before I bought ours and he said he had never had and issue with it and we were blessed to have many years of trouble free service.
However, let me assure you once you get the bugs out you will love the experience. As I said we spent 5 years travelling full time around this great country and it was a great feeling of freedom. Course we had sold our house and put all our stuff in storage so we were truly free spirits.
Keep the faith and it will be worth the trip.

Don't call them, go there and get in their face - be rude, ugly, and loud (loud always helps). It's worked for me. Good luck.

Been thinking of doing same thing but keep changing my mind. Figure as much as I would use it I could rent a cabin once a month for 10 years for about same price as rv I was looking at

That's a heck of a dang note. Customer service is not their strong point.

Man that is tough. I had a few issues with my rig over the years but nothing like that. I bought from Gauthiers and the service has always been great. I would stay on them maybe even call the manufacturer. Hope you didn't get a lemon.

I once had a problem with a new freezer from sears. One call to the district manager and I not only got a new freezer but they transfered the salesman that keep stalling me about changing it out. I also was told that the best time to take a power tool back to sears was when there was a line at the check out. Had it happen one time and the fellow was about to but about $1000.00 worth of tools but he made them take care of me before he would complete his purchase. While you have a bigger problem and you can do what ever you see fit this is what I would do. I would call the manufacture and tell them the problem. Get them number for the area rep then give him or her a call. Go down there everyday you get the chance and just start looking at other RV's. As other customers come along and even in front of salesman I would tell the other customers the what had happened and the trouble I was having with service. The worst the can do is ask you to leave. Go down the road and hold up signs about your problem. yes the word will get back to them but their is nothing they can do to you. Your not on their property. If the have a facebook acount post to it. Make a flyer and go to local stores suchas wally world and just start handing them out. Don't go stand by the door walk around and hand them out. Do the same at the local grocery store. If the rv place has anything to say tell them that you will stop when you no longer are having any ppproblems with the RV until then you are going to keep telling your story and giving them free advertising.

Trailer life magazine has a complaint section and the manufacturer should be called immediately. Sorry , but as a camper/5th wheel owner of several years, it can be disheartening sometimes.
