I also fish out of a 15' flat bottom with a 20hp. I have heard its hard getting in, but would it be hard for my setup?

After scouring the sites archived posts, I have determined the launch to use is the Butte Lasrose (which I dont know where that is), and it will be the second cut on your right on the Atchafalaya? Could some of you guys that have been there maybe give me a more detailed way to get there, and what launch is the Butte LaRose launch?

The butte la rose launch easiest way to get there is to take the butte la rose exit from I-10 at the stop sign take a right and go all the way down till you get to the store with the carwash i would say 5 to 6 miles when you get to that store you take a left into the parking lot at the launch then head south on the river i like to take the thrid cut off the river that is if you count the first one that is at the launch they do have some signs and the cow island south sign is the one i use there is a pull over to get into the lake if the water isnt high enough to cross the weir if your boat aint to heavy you shouldnt have any problems pulling over on the right side of the weir i haved jumped my skiff over the weir using 4x4'sbut i wouldnt suggest doing that it can get kinda hairy no matter how careful you are good luck and let me know how you do!!!

The river stage has to be at or better than 14.1 to be able to cross into.
The atchafalaya river stage. and yes you want to enter the 2nd cut south that will say "Cow Island South" . once turned in start looking for the little passage through the woods on your right. When getting to weir always trim up your motor for extra precautionary.
You pretty much have to just head out there and see for yourself, unless you get a report from someone. I've seen it where the river was falling, but water still rushing into Cow Island, with about a 6" waterfall. Last trip I made, had to get out the boat and push over the weir to get in and out. Getting out against the current was somewhat of a battle.
