    Default Chicken Coop?

Didn't want to hijack the other thread on this, I'm kickin around the idea of draggin the boat to my parents house in Natchitoches, and trying to find this Chicken Coop place Saturday. Looks like the easiest place to access the coop is to launch in Texas, then fish the west side of the river channel with shiners. I'm open to all advice, plenty of room in my inbox!

Can I fish on the Texas side with my La fishing license?

From what i've read, you can fish either side of Toledo Bend with a LA license and vice versa. You just can't fish from the bank on the Texas side, etc.

Yes, the quickest way to access it is on the Texas side (Newells fishing world) is what is called if I remember it correctly. Just found the old paperwork I had on it.

    Newell's Fishing World
    409-625-4928
140 Newell Loop, Milam, TX 75959

The owners name is Gary. He is a super nice guy but he will keep you on the phone for a while so make sure you call him when you have time to talk and I wouldn't call him early in the morning b/c he is usually at the launch collecting the money.
When we went you needed to find water around 30-35 feet and fish almost directly on the bottom. Give us a report if you go, please.
    Thanks

    Hope this helps.

Make sure you check the weather before you launch..big winds can play havoc on Toledo Bend. Also, there's not a lot to tie up to with the water level where it is right now, bring enough rope/anchor. If you do decide to go, message me..I may be going and my boat is already there. I wouldn't mind a little company if you wouldn't. Btw, are you from Natchitoches? Got a couple of friends there you may know.

Shadow, thanks for the info, Newell's looks like the place to put in. Talked to mom today, she said my Dad has come down with a nasty cold. It was bad enough for him to come home early from work, and that's rare for him. We're all getting over a bad head cold, including our 16mo twins and don't want to have round two. That said, if we go, I will report back.

Southstadiumtiger - Thanks for the offer, its looking like our plans to go visit may fall through. I want to try the coop and fishing Toledo Bend in general, so if we don't make it this weekend, I will try to plan another trip before the fish move up to more shallow water. My parents moved to Nachitoches about a year ago, they just bought a new home and moved in.
