    Default Black Lake

Got a little time today. Gotta stay close. River still a little dirty for cold water catching.

The lake is always good in the coldest weather over the years.

Black n Chartreuse tube drug on the bottom. Some would tap it, most just held it.

    Merry Christmas Y'all.

Merry Christmas JR, and let me say thanks for your pics this year, but mostly thanks for the info you share about catching them. You are an asset to this sight and we guys are thankful you are here. Hope you are coming to Toledo Bend. Look forward to meeting you and maybe fishing with you sometime. Danny

    Nice catch.
Is this Back Lake in Maurepas? I have been there a few times in my kayak but can not seem to get on any fish. Maybe I am not able to go out far enough since in a kayak.

Yes. This area was hit hard by Issac. Catching is tuff.

I've got a few spots that have produced over the years with cold weather. The spot I caught these, usually produces 25-30 fish. I've posted years past, about this area in cold weather

I guess I will not give up on it then. I will keep trying, I think I may have been fishing too shallow. I am kind of new to crappie fishing, I usually salt water fish. How do you rig to fish the bottom? Is it with a jig head and bait tight-lined straight down, or do you use slip cork? sorry for all the questions, just trying to figure it all out. I have not had too much luck with figuring out a slip cork yet.
