This is becoming an obsession. I have to find out who the "Crappie Queen" of Jonathan Creek on Kentucky Lake was.
My dad fished Jonathan Creek every spring during the 1960s, and he talked about a lady that the fishermen called the "Crappie Queen." I believe she owned or at least worked at a restaurant. Was it Sue and Charlie's maybe? I know there was such a restaurant, but I don't know if the "Crappie Queen" was associated with it or not.
Anyone able to enlighten me?

I've lived within 30 minutes or less of JC my entire life and ate a bunch of fish at Sue and Charlie's when it was open... never heard of the "Crappie Queen".
Well, maybe that WAS just something that my dad came up with. It wouldn't surprise me.That would have been just like Dad.
So, Quack, do your memories go back as far as the 1960s? If so, I would LOVE to hear some of your memories from those times at Jonathan Creek.
Is it true that Sue and Charlies became the Willow Pond?
Tom
I can remember times in the 70's when you could stay in the actual creek at Jonathan off 402 and never get out in the bay and absolutely wear the crappie out for almost a month solid. My father would take weeks off from work and just fill the boat up day after day. All you had to do was keep a constant look out for the no feet that would be hanging out in that neck of the creek! Back then I didn't hardly even know what a jig was. It was just a matter of getting back as far as you could and making sure you didn't run out of minnows!!
It was definitely a much different lake back then.
I bet you could contact Carl Hamilton, former owner of Sportsman's Lodge on Jonathan Creek. If such a person existed, Carl would know.
