    Default Ohio River 5/2

Went to the river today and fished some of my favorite holes in feeder creeks. Water was murky and surface temps ranged from 63 in main river to 69 in back of creeks. Fish were stacked 6-8 ft deep on brush in 10-12 ft of water. The bite was tremendously light and I only mangaged a couple. I guess with the low pressure front that came through it really put a whammy on the bite.

Yep... beats staying home like I did. Wish I had gone no matter if I caught anything or not.

since this little front has moved in the numbers bite has slowed a bit but the quality is def better, had 3 that were 14-16" friday evening(Got pics but dont know how to get em on comp from phone), just isn't as consistent as it was before the cooler temps, the river is dropping pretty quick also so that is pushin' em out some, minnows and jigs have both been working well w/ more #'s on the minnows. They're in there so stay after em' These river fish can be tricky but they are HEALTHY fish.

PS: Im new on here (been lurkin a while) but if anyone can help me to post pics from phone and comp I would really appreciate it.

Here is a couple River fish from Friday. Caught prob 25-30 from 2-5pm w/ the best three between 14-16". 1/32 oz bullet head jigs w/ stingers and tubes took sum bigger fish w/ minnows accounting for the rest. Fish were 4-5 ft deep in 6-8ft of water in the heart of the cover. Wish this rain and cool weather would move on so I can get back after em'.

Went today and found only a couple of creeks clear enough to fish. My final tally was 16 crappie and 1 bluegill in the freezer. Biggest fish was a 14 incher in full color. It's tail was blood red and it was the first fish caught this morning. What a way to start the day. Can't wait to get back out again.

I caught a lot of crappie up a creek on Weiss Lake and they all had bloody tails also. I was told they get that way when they hang tight to cover. Never seen it anywhere else but on that one trip.

Hey CreekBoy, what did the main river look like today? How far back in the creeks did you have to go to find fish. 17 fish on the river for murky water is a good day in my book!

    Kycreekboy,

I was up there yesterday as well. I ended up not even wetting a line. The main river was up but the color was still decent. The creeks were much muddier and lots of trash as well as the water being up 2-3 feet. I drove around for a lil bit then headed back to the ramp. Guess Cave Run is gonna be option # 2, water should still be clear up there. 17 fish is excellent given the conditions u were fishin' in. Glad to hear u got into some. U fishin on main river or in tribs? I didnt see any creeks I usually fish w/ any decently clear wata.
