    Default KY LAKE this weekend

Fishing was pretty tough Sat....dad and I caught a little over 50, but only 22 kept. We caught most of our fish around 10' to 12' casting jigs to brush and stakebeds and the fish were right on bottom and were only biting when we bumped the cover. Didn't catch squat over the tops of the brush like we usually do. Did have several 14" to 15" and one 16.5" full of eggs. Guessing the males were shallower than we were fishing as all but (2) keepers were females full of eggs.

Went out for about 4 hours this morning for bass since it was too windy to cast crappie jigs and ended up w/ 31 on ledges in the bays w/ a few nice ones. Fish caught on carolina rig creature baits and crankbaits 12' to 18' deep. Storms before the cold front ran us off the lake.

    Cool Weather

Glad to hear you & your dad caught a few.

Man when is this weather gonna straighten out?! I'm tied off to the cells above Ky. Lock right now with 24 loads in 4'to 5' wind swell & 40+ MPH winds with gusts over 50. Lake looks like a cotten patch! Wind swells bust'n over the side of the barges into the cargo box.

Sounds like you guys have been able to leave me a few fish to chase when I get home. I get off on Tuesday & gonna get right on'um!

You guys did a darn sight better than we did on Saturday. 3 1/2 hours yielded one keeper and about a half dozen short fish until we said to heck with it and started bass fishing. I guess we should have hit the ledges because we only had a couple beating the banks.

Wiskers.....plenty of crappie left in the lake. Many black females are still carrying eggs FYI.

I fished for a while Sat. morning. I only caught 5 keepers and few short fish but the keepers were real nice. The smallest one was just short of a pound and 12 ounces. All were carrying eggs and not even close to getting ready. The wind was not so much fun at times so I left for home.

were most still staged out deep? I know with this rising and falling water and stained clarity it tends to scatter them.

    Default Ky Lake last week!

Fished Ky Lake all last week. Fishing was tougher than expected but still managed at least 20 keepers every day except Wednesday when we had 16.The best day was Thursday before the storm blew through, fished until about 2 and had 35 keepers.Good trip all in all,my son caught his biggest 2lbs2oz and my dad had his biggest 2lbs9oz both white females full of eggs. The future looks good as we caught numeroue fish between 9 and 10 inches, one morning we caught 14 short fish before boating our first keeper. Will try to post pictures later this week.
