It doesn't get any easier so far as fishing goes but you have to be where the fish are.

yes yellow bass taste fine. i clean them just like crappie and bluegill. they are not like white bass that have a lot of red meat to trim away to taste good. texture is somewhere between crappie and bluegill and taste is closer to redear or bluegill to me. my son request them when he is home over all other fish. that is why i have started cleaning them so often.

When filleting yellow bass, I like to keep the knife real light leaving a thin band of meat on the skin. This band will be mostly all red meat depending where you catch them. Illinoisgiller

Yeah, I guess. I tried it last year and didn't have much luck either. I'll try it again sometime, but I love to cast to the banks and other structure with a jig.

We will be down this Thurs-Sun staying somewhere in Aurora. We will be on
Johnathan, blood and Big Bear. Will be in a four door grey tundra with red glassport. Our boat looks like a porcupine when we have the poles standing straight up. Stop by if you are around.

All the signs at the ramps state the limit is 15 yellow bass, white bass, strip bass, only 5 can be over 15" all of these fish go in one limit.
Yellow bass are some good eating fish, just as good as gills & crappie mybe better. No need to worry about red meat on a yellow bass.
If your in to yellows I'ts a good bet black crappie are in there with em. try usein a bobber with a tube jig have the jig just above the cover and fish it slow. yellow bass don't hit the jig to good but the crappie will

Your right Whiskers, went yesterday and when we went shallow and caught blacks, you had to waid through the yellow bellies.
