Looking for a plan of attack
Hello everyone, I'm new to posting on this site but have cruised the pages for awhile now. From reading your post I know yall will have some excellent advice to this question. I am going to Kentucky lake this coming weekend. I am taking two buddies who have never even laid eyes on Ky lake and want this to be a convincing trip for them. Anyway I have watched the weather and know it will be in the lower 70's most of the week and will have a weak cold front come in towards the end of the week. Should I start the mornings out in the brush off the creek channels in 12 to 15 fow? Or , should I start shallow and move out deeper if I have no luck. Jonathan creek is a hot spot to be sure but what about Sledd creek? That terrpin pond in sledd creek sure does look good on paper but i've never fished it. What about the dam end of the lake? Is it conceivable that the Crappie will be active around the riprap outside of Ky Dam Marina or should we stay south alittle bit?... Any help would be greatly appreciated as you can obviously see I have alot on my mind.:D

I suggest the first thing is when your getting bait is ask them. All fisherman will tell the bait shop what they are catching and where at( as far as banks, deep water,ect..... With the temps being warm next week the water temp should rise to 54-56 or better. When you get to the lake, check it with your depth finder as soon as you put in. If it is i would start shallow and work outward. Check every brush pile, ledges( even if is only a two ft ledge) and rocky banks. We never have fished the northern part of the lake. Just from Big Bear to the south. Wiskers fishes the north but i believe he doesn't come off the boat until April 7. We may be back down next weekend ourselves. good luck.
