Default OT Kentucky & Barkley Lakes

Frist off HELLO, I was wondering if any of you can give me some information on these two lakes. My wife and I are planning a trip up there in mid May or early June. I was really looking for a nice place to park an RV for a week to 10 days, rent a small boat do some crappie (or as we say sac-a-lait) fishing. I was looking at some of the state parks on these lakes but notice none had sewage hook ups. I would rather stay someplace that had a marina on site. Well I would like thank you all for the help.
By this time have they moved off the bank and back into deeper waters?

Fish will be kind of scattered more than likely by that time between mid-depth and deep. Probably won't find many on the banks by then in my opinion. Can't help you much with a campground, the only campground I have experience with is Lakeside on Johnathon Creek. We stayed their several times last year. Don't know that they have sewage hook up, I know they have a dump station and will for a fee come around and pump out tanks. I think they have a website you could google and check.

Talking Lake barkley state resort park

Lake Barkley has a resort park on little river. It has a campground with hookups and a dump station. There is a marina there that you can rent boats and nearly everything you could want. Don't fail to eat at least once at the lodge. Little river has tons of fishing to be had. The spawn will be over but move around and you will locate plenty of fish.

You can try Big Bear Marina and resort. I'm pretty sure they have sewage hook up on a few of their sites. Their numbers are 270-354-6436 and 270-354-6414.
The only way to have a good fishing spot is to make it yourself!

Thanks for the help, looks like I got some phone calls to make and some web searches. Looking forward to making the trip, it sure looks like a pretty place.

    Default Big Bear

You can't go wrong with Big Bear resort. I have stayed there many times. Good fishing within a stones throw from the dock. As stated before by that time of the year the fish will be moved out a little deeper. There are some secondary channels within a mile of the resort with 15-25ft of water. There is a good guide there also. Rodney Hairgrove is his name.
Crappie spawning and morels popping up at the same time. What was God thinking when he made that schedule. It's pure torture every spring deciding which to do.

I recommend Energy Lake Camp Ground. We have camped KY and Barkely for many years and it's one of the best. It is located right off of lake Barkely inside the LBL Reserve. You can fish the lake or you can fish Barkely. Boat ramp to Enegery/Barkely Lake is right next to the camp ground.

Very true, but Energy Lake is closed right now with no projected opening date due to ice storm damage. Check the closure list at http://www.lbl.org/LBLClosureChart.pdf
