Default How Would You Compare Lakes?

If any of you have fished both Green River Lake and Barren River Lake how would you compare the two? What do you like best about each lake and what do you like least about each lake? I would like to venture out and try some new water. I have fished Kentucky and Barkley but would like to try one of these two lakes. I live in the extreme NE corner of Kentucky and Kentucky and Barkley are a long haul.

I've never fished Barren, but Green River Lake can be awesome at times. If you hit it right, you can catch some quality fish. Haven't been down that way in many years, but it used to be a bit on the cyclic side ... couple of years of so so size/numbers, then a banner year of slabs. It's a two hour haul for me, but in a good season at GRL ... it's worth the trip.
BadBrad and I were supposed to hookup at GRL, last year, but it never happened. I'm sure we will try and connect this year, too. Results pending :p

Thanks for the reply. Please post your results if you do go. I mostly fish Yatesville (13 miles from home) Grayson and Cave Run but I enjoy fishing different water from time to time. I have been to Kentucky Lake three times. The first time we hit it wrong. The second time I had a big problem with my motor. The last time we were catching some fish and I had a heart attack the second full day there. I ended up having a triple bypass. The folks at my church said the heart attack came because we were catching some fish!!! Kentucky Lake is so different from our East Kentucky lakes I have never figured it out. I would love to live down there and give it a try though!!!

I will most definitely post results/pics on my trips !! And I encourage all the other KY members to do the same

KyTeacher would be a good source of info on Green River Lake ... and BadBrad could probably tell all of us about Barren & Green. Just give them time to see the thread.
