Looks like the first of the week might be good. I am going to try it any way.

I used to fish mostly Beaver and Skaggs but since I moved down here on the Allen Co. side I fish mostly the river.

    See ya there.

This is where I warmed up yesterday when I got to cold.

THought I would rebuild this thing and add to it a little bit. Just need the water to come up now.

thehines, believe it or not....the structure you have pictured is structure I built and put out about 4 years ago. I took my kids with me the day we put it out and made a day of it. We boated the pvc over from Beaver Creek boat ramp, set it, and then picknicked and went exploring on the shore line. They had a lot of fun doing it.

I was real new to building structure at the time and had no idea what I was doing. I placed it in this location because I had caught several nice crappie from the area in the past during the spring spawn.

Problem with putting structure out on Barren is, the Corp keeps the lake level so messed up. If you put out cover for spawning fish then everyone will easily see it when the water is drawn down. Two years ago, due to the drought, alot of the structure I had set stayed dry all year. It's a lot of work!

I think it would be best to drop some in deeper water, places where there is water year round. This would make it deep structure come summer pool, but then you'd probably have it all to yourself because most people wouldn't be targeting crappie that deep on Barren.

Hope you can catch some fish off the place this spring. Good luck!

Well I think it was a good place. I wasn't catching fish so I thought I would straighten it up a little bit. I like the piping where did you get that stuff. Just made it to a circle and added a couple more dead trees to the center.

I scavenged some construction sites and got the scrap given to me for free. Set them in concrete in my garage and then hauled them to the lake. I think it would have been bettered served a little further out on the point of the cove, but it's still a likely place to catch a fish once the water gets up.

All of my spots over at Barren are high and dry too. Even my spots that would be in 20 foot of water in the summer are dry. The thermocline usually sets up in 18-20 foot of water in the summer so really there is no way to set some out that aren't dry in the winter and still be effective. I just set big tall ones so that maybe they will suspend above them just a touch.

    552-525=27 feet

So, if you are droppin brush that would be good, say right now, anywhere from 5-20 foot of water it would be 32-47 foot deep at regular summer pool. Don't even get me started about where my brush was last year when the spawn should have been. Suffice to say it was too deep to be effective considering the lake level.
