Thanks for the report Arca. We made it over a few days ago for a little while. Only had 7 keepers but mostly nice fish. Similar pattern as yours except some of the fish were down to 12 feet or so. I bet Downwind has caught another limit or two in the last few days. Maybe he can help us out.

    Take care,

Wink This time of year ..

back when I used to fish T-ville more often .... this is when I'd be using my 8foot flyrod/spinning reel/Spiderwire/slipfloat/minner setup :D
I'd go from Cedar tree to Cedar tree, that was in 20+ feet of water, and drop the slipfloat/minner rig down between the branches ... about 6-8ft deep.
Hits would usually come within seconds of the float standing up ... and if they didn't, I'd reel it up and drop it elsewhere around that tree. Two or three drops per tree was about all that was needed to tell if any fish were on it. I didn't usually catch more than one or two fish off a tree, but they were usually decent sized fish. I didn't leave the minner down for more than a few seconds, so as not to give it time to get tangled up. It's also why I used the Spiderwire 20/6 :p ... so that, in case of snagging the hook, I could straighten it out and go on and not have to constantly be re-tying.

That was back in my minner fishin days .... but I wouldn't be surprised if it still works today. And, being a jig slinger, now ... moreso than a minner fisherman ... I probably would be more likely to do some Vertical Casting down in these same trees :D

Hey guys, Just got back from Grenada Lake last night. Had a good time and caught a few. Biggest was 2.6. Didn't get to meet any of the Miss. guys. I asked several at the ramps if they were members but didn't get any takers. Lake is way down and being pulled. Beautiful lake though. We averaged about 20 a day. All keepers were in the 1.5 and up range. Didn't know it until we arrived but fish had to be over 12" to keep. It was hard to throw back a 12" crappie after fishing around here.
Hoping to get back T-vile soon. Resting up a few days before I start fishing again.
    Keep those reports coming.

Sounds like a great trip Downwind. I hope to make it down to MS to fish some of those lakes eventually. My wife's sister lives in Memphis and some of that fishing isn't too far down the road from there. A 2.6 is a really nice fish, congrats.

The wife & I fished the Ville Sunday from 8:00 am until 1:30, caught 5 keepers no short fish. Fishing was tough, didn't know if lake was getting ready to turn or if they were dropping it. Something slowed down the bite. We fished Guntersville last week for bass, they were catching lots of crappie around the 2 lb range, we came in 2nd in the bass tournament and it was tough also. Did not get a chance to crappie fish down there this trip.
    Good luck to all!
