    Default T-ville this week

My Dad fished Monday morning and got 9 keepers fishing from 12 to 18 feet deep. We went back last night and fished for a few hours after dark and got 7 keepers from 8 to 12 ft deep. All fish caught on minnows. Most of the Dad's fish from Monday were 11-12 inch fish. Last night they more around the 10 in. size. Maybe things are starting to improve at T-ville. I'm working all weekend so let me know if anyone makes it to the lake.

    Take care,

GREENFISH--Thinking about getting out to T-ville tomorrow. Noticed you and your dad are catching a few. W/O getting specific, would you mind sharing what part of the lake you all are fishing? Don't have a lot of time and some general information would cut down on the searching. Thanks!
By the way--How is the family doing? Haven't heard a report in a while. Hope everything is good!!!

    Downwind,
The family is doing great. Baby girl is an eating machine, just wish she was a sleeping machine at night instead of during the day. Momma is feeling good and doing fine.

As far as where on the lake we've been catching fish, that gets a little tricky. It's usually more of a run an gun approach to find a few trees for the day that are holding fish. Most of the fish have been on the main lake over deep water (30 - 50 ft). You just have to keep moving to find the trees that are holding active fish. I'll send you a PM.

    Take care,
    Greenfish

Look out guys=====I have crappie smell on my hands! May not wash them until Fall!
Only picked up 5 and not one keeper but it was better than I've done all Summer. Also caught several green carp. Good seeing you today Arca54! Hope your feeling better! As you can tell, you didn't miss much. Thanks GREENFISH. Didn't make up to the horseshoe but did take your advise on depth. Temp. 81 & Stained. Minnows, tall timber, 10' down in 20-25 fow. Wouldn't exactly call this a patteren since I didn't catch that many, but that's where I caught these few.

Glad you caught a few Downwind, wish they could have been bigger. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Keep me posted on what's happening at T-ville.

    Take care,

Went to Taylorsville today, caught one catfish, one bass, and several small 7'' crappie. Only had two keepers. Fish with minnows 10'-12' deep. Caught one crappie on a jig. Does anybody know where there is a good place to spider rig at Taylorsville, just learning how to fish like that.

    Question Spider Rigging at Taylorsville

You'd have to stay in the main lake channels.
You'd have to have a serious supply of jigs.
You'd probably catch more Hybrid Stripers & White Bass, than Crappie.

It might be some good training, or it might frustrate the heck out of you. I haven't trolled for Crappie, at T-ville, or Spider Rigged for them ... but I have longline trolled small crankbaits, and crankbaits w/jig on a leader, for Hybrids & Whites. I have, on occasion, caught Crappie doing this, but those were very isolated incidents. (and the Crappie were no bigger than what I would normally catch, casting to timber)

I do know of a "jig maker/rod builder", that supposedly has caught some good sized Crappie from T-ville. His method is to use two poles, simultainiously : one pole has a jig on it, and is just hanging over the side -- the other has a jig on it, and he casts it to the timber along the bank. Sorry, but I do not know any specifics on depth, speed, type/size jig, or areas fished. I just have reliable third party say so, on his technique & success ... plus confirmation from the man himself. Sounds reasonable & plausible, as you would be covering two depth ranges at the same time. And, I would almost bet that he uses hand-tied jigs, rather than jigheads/plastics (him being a jig maker ).

Personally, I can't say as I've ever caught a Crappie at Taylorsville, that was more than 15ft deep ... in ANY depth of water, at any time of the year. 8-12 feet deep has been the normal range, from prespawn to Fall. 4-8ft deep seems to be the normal spawntime depth preference. Blowdown trees seem to be their prefered habitat, followed by submerged brush, then isolated spots within standing timber. Deeper banks seem to produce better than shallower ones, and shaded banks/timber are more productive than those with direct sunlight on them.

All this "info" is dated, as I haven't been to T-ville more than a few times, over the last 5 years. So, take it with a grain of salt, and use it with your own discretion.
