KY Lake 4/23-25
Fished Blood River 23rd to 25th. Crappie seemed spread out, would catch one here and one there. We couldn't get on any schools. Most were caught on a 1/16 oz RoadRunner with a red head and white curl tail. Tried chartreuse with very little success. Minnows produced a fair number but seemed to be smaller. They were found mostly along the shore. Caught a few on stake beds but only had one stake bed that really produced multiple fish, it was within sight of the boat slips.
Our results seemed typical of the other fishermen we talked to. The wind made it tough fishing during the middle part of the day.
I would like to compliment and highly recommed the folks at KY Beach Resort for their friendliness and cooperation

I was in Blood River April 20-23rd and I'd echo the above comments. The fish were spread out all over. The best we did was four out of one stakebed, otherwise it was one here and one there. Caught a couple on the ledges, a few on deeper points, most in stakebeds using minnows. A red roadrunner head and red/chartreuse curly tail was the best jig we tossed. Over two days, only once did I see a double caught out of my boat. My buddy caught 28 in two days he fished with me, I caught 48 keepers over four days fishing. Fish size was good. 75% whites. I caught females spewing eggs, some far from spawning, and some already spawned out. I couldn't make much sense of it all. Good trip nonetheless. It has probably gotten tougher since Friday's cold front, cold temps, and wind.
