    Default Somebody help me

I was off work last Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I watched the heavy rains and wind blow while I painted some jig heads in the garage. I wanted to go fishing so bad.

I'm back to work now and of course it was beautiful yesterday and despite a little wind today, looks pretty good. They are forecasting rain and another cold front by the end of this week that again corresponds with my days off. Only going to be in the high 40's Sunday and Monday. I can't seem to get a break. I know the diehards will say to go anyway. But with the gas being $3.25 a gallon I'd rather wait and pick a more optimum time to go.

Somebody help me out and tell me that the fish really aren't doing much anyway. And if you are cathing em.....lie to me. LOL!

They aren't biting!..... there i lied to you......lol I know what you mean about your days off. I was on vacation last week (rain and high in the 50's) and had to start back Sunday. If you remember Sunday was 70 degrees and sunny, and like you said look at this week so far. I guess I am saying at least you are not alone!

    Brad,
I had two different buddies fish Malone yesterday. One caught one and the other guy got skunked! Truth! Maybe that will help.

Thanks Tom, makes me feel a little better. Looks like the first of next week is going drop back down into the 30's. High water and cold temps is going to disrupt things again. At this rate it will be May before the fish can spawn.

Smile We're in the Same Boat With You

badbrad, we're right there with you. I've been all over the advance weather forecasts trying to decide when to take my precious vacation time off. It has been agonizing trying to decide when the optimum conditions will present themselves. We went to Cedar Creek lake on Sunday for 4 hours of hard fishing and were completely skunked. We had a few nibbles but never hooked a fish. So there you go, looks like another bust due to our crazy weather. With that being said, keep the faith and at some point our day will come.

Brad, Monday was absolutely beautiful on KY Lake. The wind was light and it was sunny all day. My Dad and I were out there to avoid all the garbage of Tater Day in Benton. We started out deep then went shallow, tried mid and ended up deep again. In 6 hours of hard fishing we ended up with 2 keepers from 25 feet of water. I will say that they were both really nice whites that I kept to use on a display mount (if I ever get around to mounting anything of my own). A buddy of mine is a full-time guide and they ended up with 12 keepers from around 15 feet. They did have one white for me to mount. It has really been tough with little or no pattern to rely on. Most days it is just get out there and work your butt off for a few good fish. The warmest water we found was 57 on the surface. This cool, wet weather this week is probably not going to kick things in high gear. I do expect the spawn to bust wide open when conditions dictate but who knows when that will be? At least I was able to avoid Tater Day for another year!

Mrdux, well I'm glad you at least got to go out and enjoy the weather on Monday. I appreciate the report. It's funny, what our current spring and last years spring has thrown at us. I'm just worried that with last years late freeze and the cooler than normal water temps we are now experiencing, the spawn and quality of fishing the next few years will reflect it.

Dang can't believe I missed Tater Day! Nothing says "good time" like buying cheap chinese wares from the fools peddling them.

Whatever you do .... DON'T read Cane Pole's Main Forum posts (or watch the videos) :p

On another note : don't feel too bad --- I ain't been NEAR a lake, since Oct of last year ... and it looks like this screwy weather may wreck havoc with our GRL plans, too. But, unless it's going to rain & the wind is going to be howling ... come Apr 17-20 ... I'm gonna be fishing at the WB

That being said ... GRL could still be a possibility on either of the Sat's of the two weeks following my WB trip. Provided, of course, that you're able/want to go ... and the fish are still coming shallow, by then.

We wre at Jonathan Creek last week and you missed NOTHING!!!!!
I fished in cold rain ,dropping water, low pressure ,high winds, cloudy overcast sky's till Friday and the lake came up near 2 ft and the wind blew, and the temp dropped and I gave up Sat. morning!!!
67 fish for the week!! But they were larger fish this year.
