Wil be there from 04/12/ to 04/18. How do you think the water will be by then? Will they be in the stake beds or on the banks?

Well so much for pulling Ky Lake back down to summer pool. Checked this morning and she headed the other way pretty fast. Averaging about a 10th every 3 to 4 hours. If you're a boat pilot that's com'n on pretty good. Looks like TVA's gonna continue to run in the mid 60's. Barkley's rising even faster than Ky this morning. That system got a lot more rain than the Tn. river did.
This should actually help the fish'n for us "rookie" fishermen but possibly hurt the spawn. Water temps are in the mid 50's right now but I did find some water bump'n 60 the other day. With warmer weather and rising water the blacks are gonna move even shallower and make a run to the banks late on sunny days to start their thing! Whites should start staging further up in the bays soon. It won't take these fish long to figure out the water.
Just want to pass on a little safety info. Please be extra carfull for the next few days while the lake is rising. Normally we don't have much big drift in the lakes. Trust me that's gonna change. Don't be suprized if you're clipp'n along and tag a tree or a big limb. When you're runn'n don't be BS'n with the buddies; pay attention! A big log may not be visable until you're right on it.![]()

We are expecting more rain next week. I believe the water will still be up this time next week. They'll try to hold some water to help relieve the flooding below. TVA can go up to 365 in the summer (Higher if they have too) but they don't want too. At about 375' and change she pours over the gates. I ain't seen it that high in years!
Next week's temps are supsed to start out in the 70's so there ya go. I think the blacks for sure are gonna try to make hay while the sun's shin'n. They will def. head to the flooded brush. Only problem I had when the water got up over 361 last time, was getting to them. Heck there was water backed up in cow pastures where I fish! They were burried up in the buck brush & you just about had to wade to get to'um.
If they start drop'n the lake, troll'n shallow in a little deeper water might be the best bet. Falling water really screws up their game plan & mine too!
Rule of thumb this time of year is rising water move in, falling water move out.
Good luck on your trip!

Wiskers, did you pray for all this rain? I have read several post that said the cold fronts were because of you last year. So I was just wondering.....lol![]()
Take your kids hunting and fishing, and you won't be hunting your kids
wiskers,, were heading down after work tonight, hope to be on the lake first thing tomorrow,, looks like its going up about a foot in the next 24 hrs,,
we probably will stay in our cove or go down to shawnee bay cove,, I know a few brush piles, but now they will be 10-15+ deep,, should we just troll the banks ???
thanks
bub
The whites may be in that 10' to 15' stuff with the water coming up. Check it top to bottom!
Last time the water started up 3 and 1/2 weeks ago I was catching BIG black females (3 knuckles wide across the back) 2' deep in 4' to 5' of water casting a jig below a rattling cork around flooded trees and buck brush.
I hope to get my dad on the lake this weekend and send him home with a good mess of fish. Haven't decided where I'm go'n yet but sick or not I'm go'n!
I'll probably start out fish'n for whites. They have been deeper and this cold front probably hasn't effected them as much as the blacks. As the day warms I'll deff. check the banks on the wind blown side of the bay. Last time if you found the trash you found the fish.
Good Luck, might see ya out there.

Launching the boat may get interesting if it keeps coming up. Everyone be EXTREMELY careful running the lake this weekend.....a little stickup could be attached to a big ol' log!
I think I'll start off trying to fill the freezer w/ some slabs, but I'm about long-poled out and will have to switch over to bass if the crappie aren't willing to eat a slider jig on the retrieve. I sure hope I can catch some casting this weekend. Good luck to everyone as I'm curious how you guys do w/ the water coming back up.
