    Default Jonathon (Help)

We are scheduled for our crappie fishing trip for the week from March 31 to April 6. I have a friend who lives on the Moors. He has told me to postpone my trip, because the weather is bad with flood warnings, in the area, on all of the rivers. He said that KY Lake is the highest water level in 40 years and that the water is very muddy with debris all over. He said that the crappie are schattered all over and not producing a good catch. This Man has lived on the lake most of his life and is now retired in the area. He is on the safe side and is able to walk out of his house and go fishing any time. However, I called the resort owner and she told me fishing is fine, the lake is fine and my camp site is not flooded, but come down at my own risk!! I have look at the 10 day weather stations forcasts and they are all calling for T storms and flood warnings What to do!!!! Has any one been on the lake in Jonathon this week. How bad is it around there? Thanks.

Well your friend is telling you right on most points, the crappie fishing is not that great and probably won't be for awhile because of the flooding. And to make matters worse, as soon as TVA gets a chance they will start dumping water to bring the lake stage back to normal, and this will stop the fishing for awhile. The lake was higher than this about 12 or 14 years ago and the fishing was lousy then too. But at this point it is still rising and more rain is predicted. At this point the water is not muddy and has a very good color to it. So, its a gamble either way. Oh, the lady at Moors don't make money off of empty campsites....

Thank you. We decided to postpone the trip untill later. We might go to Lake Erie instead. I was counting on getting some big crappie.
