Yes, she was a good fish and we were there for crappie so whatcha gonna do? No way did I want to see her removed. I'm just poking fun at the bass crowd with the "trash" fish statement. I love em all...some are just tastier than others but they're all fun to chase.

I had a feeling that would be the case when I read the NONE minimum length limit at the ramp. Stunted crappie base is apparently the case. I did not know the lake existed and I'm not really that far from it. I'll go back for sure...fishiest "looking" place I've seen in a while...but then again I said the same thing about Wood's Creek long time ago. I haven't enjoyed a lot of success over there the few times I visited but any day on the water is a good one for moi.

Anywho...thought I'd share my experience for the good of others wanting to gather some conditions info. Great board here with a wealth of info. Almost as much fun as catching slabs...almost.

yeah, that's one of the bad parts of fishing Cedar Creek for crappie, you've got to keep fighting off those ol trash fish just so you can hook a crappie once in a while. That last trip I took over that way wore me out, having to keep throwin those trash fish back all the time.........heh-heh-heh

That's one big large-head! Wish they could transplant some of those stunted crappie to Barren River Lake.

Some of those Cedar Creek Crappie "could have" come from Barren, to start with
I don't know where they got the Crappie from ... but, I do know they removed some of the Bass they stocked, from several other KY lakes. The fry they stocked, came from the hatchery ... but they did transplant some larger fish from other state lakes. (Herrington & Taylorsville were two of them, as I understand it)
And there are some Blacknose Black Crappie in Cedar Creek ... I've caught several ... All the Crappie in CCL are supposed to be Black Crappie, but I did catch one that looked suspiciously like a White Crappie, or possibly a hybrid mix. Couldn't tell, for sure, since it was kinda small (< 6" ?? ) :D

    ... cp
